About Berkeley Country Club

Berkeley Country Club sits in the Berkeley Hills above El Cerrito, where it has offered members panoramic views of the San Francisco Bay since 1920. From the higher holes, players take in a three-bridge view — the Bay Bridge, the Golden Gate and the San Rafael — along with the San Francisco skyline, Mount Tamalpais and San Pablo Bay.

The 18-hole course was designed in 1920 by Willie Watson and Robert Hunter, and a 2011 renovation led by Forrest Richardson with Kye Goalby and Mark Fine refreshed the greens and surrounds while preserving the course’s historic character. It plays to par 72 at about 6,503 yards, with a rating of 72.6 and a slope of 133 — a layout defined by small, tricky green complexes and well-placed fairway bunkers rather than sheer length.

The club rounds out the golf with a historic clubhouse, fine dining, a fitness center, a pool and modern practice amenities including golf simulators. While weddings and events are open to non-members, golf itself is private — reserved for members and their guests. The club has also been known historically as Mira Vista.
