Boulder Creek Golf & Country Club

Tucked into the redwoods along Big Basin Highway, Boulder Creek Golf & Country Club is one of the Bay Area's most atmospheric places to play — fairways framed by towering old-growth trees in the heart of the Santa Cruz Mountains. The club dates to 1961, when Jack Fleming (longtime superintendent of San Francisco's municipal courses) laid out its original executive design.

Today the club plays as a walkable 9-hole, par-31 layout of roughly 1,900 yards — rebuilt after the 2020 CZU Lightning Complex fire swept through the San Lorenzo Valley. Short it may be, but tight tree-lined corridors put a premium on accuracy, and the setting is pure mountain escape. It's a favorite for beginners, families, and anyone who wants a relaxed round under the redwoods.

Golf is only half the story: the property also hosts two dedicated disc golf layouts — The Basin (18 holes) and Creekline (9) — plus a restaurant and bar and event facilities, making it an easy stop on the way to Big Basin Redwoods State Park.
