Montclair Golf Course

Montclair Golf Course is a nine-hole, par-27 pitch-and-putt tucked into Oakland's Montclair hills, open since 1980 and beloved as a local short-game hideaway. None of the nine holes stretches much past 80 yards, but small, well-defended greens make it a genuine test of the short game — and a relaxed, friendly place to spend an hour.

The real engine of the place is its double-decker driving range: 19 lit stalls up top with sunshine and views, and 17 shaded stalls below right next to the bar counter, so you can hit balls day or night. Combined with a putting and chipping setup, it is one of the East Bay's most popular casual practice spots, especially for working golfers and beginners.

There are no powered carts — the course is short, walkable and shaded by mature trees — and the on-site, family-owned restaurant and bar serves lunch and dinner daily, with breakfast on weekends. The pro shop handles club fitting, regripping and repairs, and PGA lessons are available seven days a week.
