Sharon Heights Golf Club

Sharon Heights Golf and Country Club opened in 1962 on a site in the Menlo Park hills that places it at one of the more unusual intersections in American golf — the corner of Sand Hill Road and the Stanford foothills. Sand Hill Road has been the center of gravity for Silicon Valley venture capital for decades, and the club's address at 2900 Sand Hill Road has made it a natural gathering point for the technology and investment communities that define the area. Jack Fleming designed the course on terrain that rolls through the hills above the Stanford campus, and the layout he established — 18 holes, par 72, 6,837 yards — has been refined over the years while preserving his original character.

The slope rating of 138 and course rating of 73.4 signal a layout that takes itself seriously. The fairways move through the hillside with enough contour to produce uneven lies and require thoughtful club selection, and the greens are well-protected and have real speed. A recent renovation brought the course to its current playing standard with rebuilt bunkers and infrastructure updates. The club celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2012 and has continued to invest in both the course and the broader facility, which includes dining and event spaces that have made Sharon Heights a recognized private venue in the Peninsula market for weddings and corporate gatherings as well as golf.
