Marin County's golf courses offer some of the most scenic rounds in the Bay Area — tree-lined, uncrowded, and often fog-kissed. From Peacock Gap on the bay to the redwood-framed Indian Valley, Marin is a golfer's secret.
Marin County offers six golf courses with a character all their own — less crowded than the East Bay or South Bay, deeply scenic, and benefiting from Marin's famously mild climate. Peacock Gap Golf Club in San Rafael sits right on the bay with views of China Camp State Park. Indian Valley in Novato is a hidden gem tucked into a redwood canyon. Mill Valley's course is quintessential Marin: short, wooded, and charming. For golfers heading further north toward wine country, Rooster Run in Petaluma is an excellent value stop.
A flat, scenic public course along San Pablo Bay in San Rafael. Beautiful water views, mature trees and a welcoming atmosphere make it Marin's most popular public round.

April through October is reliably excellent for Marin golf, with the sweet spots being late spring (April–June) when the hills are impossibly green and rolling, and fall (September–November) when skies are clear and courses less crowded after the summer rush.
Marin gets more winter rain than the East Bay, but courses rarely close — they're simply softer. Indian Valley in Novato drains particularly well and is often playable within a day of heavy rain. Winter rounds in Marin are peaceful, affordable and often fog-free by midmorning.
Marin County offers some of the most beautiful post-golf scenery in California. A Peacock Gap morning round followed by a drive through China Camp State Park on Point San Pedro Rd to downtown San Rafael for lunch is a perfect half-day. Add a late afternoon walk in Muir Woods if you have the energy.
The Mill Valley combination is quintessential: early round at the 9-hole municipal, then walk to Depot Bookstore for coffee, browse the Saturday farmers market, and hike up to the Mt. Tamalpais summit viewpoint in the afternoon. You've barely left the town center and had a complete Marin experience.
