Pebble Beach Stay & Play

How to actually get on Pebble Beach Golf Links — which hotel unlocks a tee time, what it costs, and how to build a Monterey Peninsula golf trip around it.

Here's the thing almost everyone gets wrong about Pebble Beach: the course is technically public, but tee times don't work like a normal public course. Resort guests can book golf up to 18 months in advance with guaranteed access. Non-guests can only book Pebble Beach Golf Links 24 hours ahead — a daily scramble for whatever's left. That single gap is what "stay and play" means here, and it's why staying on-property is the only reliable way to plan a round on a specific date.

The booking-window reality

How far ahead you can lock a tee time depends entirely on whether you're a resort guest. This is the whole game:

Course
Non-guest window

Pebble Beach Golf Links

Up to 18 months
Spyglass Hill
Up to 3 months
Up to 18 months
The Links at Spanish Bay

A minimum 2-night resort stay is required to secure a round at Pebble Beach Golf Links (it can stretch to three nights in peak season), and you can book one round per night of your stay. Always confirm current rates and policies when you reserve.

The courses (the "play")

Five courses anchor a Monterey Peninsula trip — two bucket-list resort tracks and three that are genuinely affordable and easy to book.

The main event — the No. 1 public course in America. Resort guests get guaranteed access; non-guests can book only 24 hours ahead.

Brutal, beautiful and often rated the toughest of the Pebble courses. Non-guests can book up to 3 months out.

Poppy Hills Golf Course
NCGA-owned and the best value on the Peninsula — fully open to the public, no resort stay needed.
$95–$175

Del Monte Golf Course
The oldest course in continuous operation west of the Mississippi. Bookable up to 6 months ahead as a non-guest.
$85–$145

Laguna Seca Golf Ranch
A relaxed, affordable Robert Trent Jones layout in the Monterey hills — easy to book and great for a warm-up round.
$55–$115
18 holes

Green fees reflect typical ranges and vary by season and day. See each course page for details, or browse the full Pebble Beach area course guide.

Pebble Beach Stay & Play FAQ

Yes — Pebble Beach Golf Links is open to the public, but non-resort guests can only reserve a tee time 24 hours in advance, and weekend mornings in peak season are usually taken by resort guests. If you want a guaranteed round on a specific date, staying at The Lodge at Pebble Beach, The Inn at Spanish Bay or Casa Palmero is the only reliable way.
Resort guests at The Lodge and The Inn at Spanish Bay can book golf up to 18 months in advance (Casa Palmero up to 12 months), subject to a minimum stay. Non-guests can book Pebble Beach Golf Links only 24 hours ahead, Spyglass Hill up to 3 months ahead, and Del Monte or The Links at Spanish Bay up to 6 months ahead.
Green fees at Pebble Beach Golf Links run roughly $575 to $625 per round, plus a cart or caddie fee. Add a required two-night resort stay to lock in a tee time in advance, and a Pebble Beach round becomes a multi-thousand-dollar commitment — which is why many golfers base themselves nearby and play the other courses.
Stay in Monterey, Pacific Grove or Carmel and play Poppy Hills ($95–$175), Del Monte ($85–$145) or Laguna Seca ($55–$115) — all open to the public and easy to book. You get the Monterey Peninsula golf experience for a fraction of a resort stay, and can still try for a non-guest Pebble Beach time 24 hours out.
To secure a Pebble Beach Golf Links tee time in advance as a resort guest, a minimum two-night stay is required, and it can rise to three nights during peak season. You can book one round per night of your stay across the resort courses, with up to two players per room.
