About The Course at Wente Vineyards

The Course at Wente Vineyards is an upscale, public daily-fee course set on the historic Wente family estate in the Livermore Valley, about 50 minutes east of San Francisco. Designed by Greg Norman and opened in 1998, it plays roughly 7,181 yards to a par 72 across three distinct landscapes — native woodlands, grassy meadows and working vineyards — with dramatic elevation changes on nearly every hole.

It is widely regarded as one of the Bay Area's premier public courses, ranked among California's best by Golf Digest and a former host of the PGA Tour's then-Nationwide Tour Livermore Valley Wine Country Championship. The back nine is the signature stretch: it begins high on a ridge with sweeping vistas, drops down a switchback cart path, and finishes through the vineyards where creeks, wetlands and a lake guard the closing holes. Because of the terrain, carts are recommended and are included in the green fee.

Practice facilities include a putting and chipping green by the clubhouse and a driving range up on the ridge, and The Grill serves food and drinks daily with views over the 18th green. Green fees are premium and vary by day and season; tee times can be booked online through GolfNow. A collared-shirt dress code applies and denim is not permitted.
