The PGA Tour Is Coming Back to Silverado — Here’s What It Means for Bay Area Golfers

Wine country golf is getting its biggest stage back. The PGA Tour announced that professional golf will return to Silverado Resort’s North Course in Napa from July 26 to August 1, 2027, in a new tournament sponsored by Japanese insurer Sompo as part of the Tour’s new Championship Series. It ends a one-year gap after the Fortinet Championship era wrapped up — and it moves Napa’s tour stop from its old fall slot to the heart of summer.

For those keeping score at home: the North Course was the Tour’s fall opener for roughly a decade, hosting the Safeway Open and then the Fortinet Championship. The 2026 season came and went without a Napa stop. Now it’s back, with a new sponsor and a midsummer date that should mean firm, fast conditions instead of fall’s morning fog.

The part that matters for the rest of us: you can play this course

Unlike most Tour venues, Silverado is a resort course that’s open to public play year-round. The same fairways the pros will walk in July 2027 are bookable today — green fees on the North Course typically run $85–$185 depending on season and tee time, with the South Course usually a notch cheaper. Playing a Tour venue for under $200 is one of the best flexes in Bay Area golf, and it’s about 90 minutes from most of the Bay.

Tournament week will be the busiest golf week Napa has seen in years — expect hotels near the resort to fill early, and public tee times across wine country (all six Napa & Wine Country courses) to tighten up.
