Professional golf returns to wine country: the PGA Tour announced that a new tournament will be played at Silverado Resort's North Course July 26 – August 1, 2027, sponsored by Japanese insurer Sompo as part of the Tour's new Championship Series. It ends a short absence after the Fortinet Championship era wrapped up — and puts Napa back on the professional golf calendar.
For Bay Area golfers, the takeaway is simple: the same public-playable resort course that hosts the pros is bookable year-round, and late-July Napa is peak golf weather.

The City of Alameda and course operator Greenway Golf have reached an amicable settlement, ending a long-running legal dispute over the operation of Corica Park — home of the acclaimed, Australian-sandbelt-style South Course. With the standoff resolved, one of the Bay Area's best municipal complexes can get back to focusing on golf.

One of the region's quiet classics hit a big milestone: Pajaro Valley Golf Club, the public course near Watsonville at the south end of the Monterey Bay, is celebrating its 100th year. Opened in 1926, it's been a locals' favorite for generations — proof that Bay Area-and-beyond golf history runs deep outside the famous names.
