Urban Golf at Its Finest
San Francisco offers a golf experience unlike any other city in America. TPC Harding Park — set in a pine forest adjacent to Lake Merced — has hosted the PGA Championship, the WGC-Match Play, and multiple Presidents Cup events. The Presidio Golf Course winds through a National Park with views of the Golden Gate Bridge. Lincoln Park overlooks the Pacific Ocean and Lands End. These are not just good municipal courses — they're world-class venues in stunning settings.
The other advantage of San Francisco is everything else. After your round, you have Michelin-starred restaurants in the Mission, cocktail bars in the Tenderloin, views from Twin Peaks, and the Ferry Building Marketplace — all within a 20-minute drive from any course in the city. It's the easiest destination in this guide for non-golfing travel companions.
The pinnacle of San Francisco luxury hotels — perched on Nob Hill with impeccable service, beautiful rooms, and the city's finest concierge team. About 20 minutes from TPC Harding Park and 15 minutes from the Presidio. The Ritz staff will handle your tee time bookings, arrange transportation, and make dinner reservations at whatever restaurant in the city you desire. The experience from arrival to departure is flawless.
A boutique hotel in the Inner Sunset neighborhood — the closest full-service hotel to both TPC Harding Park and Golden Gate Park Golf Course. The Inner Sunset is a local neighborhood with excellent coffee shops, restaurants on Irving Street, and a relaxed vibe far from the tourist crowds. This is the smart choice for golfers who want to minimize drive time and experience a real San Francisco neighborhood.
A beloved boutique hotel in the elegant Pacific Heights neighborhood, consistently ranked among the best hotels in the city. Hotel Drisco feels like a sophisticated private home rather than a corporate hotel — beautifully appointed rooms, a complimentary wine hour, and exceptional personal service. About 15 minutes from Presidio Golf Course, with the Presidio National Park walkable from the neighborhood.
Staying inside the Presidio National Park puts you literally steps from Presidio Golf Course — one of the most uniquely located courses in the country, set in a former military base with views of the Golden Gate Bridge. The Inn at the Presidio is a beautifully restored Georgian Revival building, now a National Park lodge. A truly one-of-a-kind San Francisco lodging experience.

Local Tips
Book TPC Harding Park early. Harding Park is a public course but is extremely popular — weekend tee times book out weeks in advance through sfrecpark.org. Weekday mornings are your best bet for walk-up or last-minute availability.
Lincoln Park has the best views of any municipal course in America. The 17th and 18th holes overlook the Pacific Ocean and the Golden Gate Bridge — it's worth playing just for those two holes. Green fees are very affordable.
Rent a car or use rideshare. San Francisco's courses are spread across the city. Rideshare to TPC Harding Park is straightforward, but having a car gives you flexibility between courses and neighborhoods.
